Abstract: Based on a comparative perspective, this paper systematically reviews the research results in the field of biomass energy in China and the United States, and provides useful ideas for the further development of biomass energy research in China. The bibliometric method was used to systematically sort out the research results in the field of biomass energy in China and the United States from 2010 to 2022,and the basic characteristics and research hotspots of the research results in China and the United States were compared and analyzed from the aspects of the number of publications, highly cited papers, disciplines, institutions, funding support and research hotspots. Since 2017,the number of biomass energy research literature and the number of highly cited papers in China’s academic circles have surpassed those of United States. Compared with the United States, the distribution of institutions responsible for biomass energy research in China is more concentrated. Both China and the United States have a high proportion of funding coverage. United States has produced a series of research achievements in engineering and technology and economic benefits of carbon sequestration, while China’s relevant research started relatively late.
