Abstract: Based on data from scientific papers, patents, and policy documents, this study employs clustering analysis of scientific literature and policy text interpretation to analyze the research frontiers, technological frontiers, and development strategies in the field of advanced materials both domestically and internationally. The research frontier index model is constructed from two dimensions: the breakthrough index and the timeliness index. The technological frontier index model is built based on two dimensions: the novelty index and the growth index. The study identifies the research frontiers and technological frontiers in advanced metallic materials, advanced inorganic materials, and advanced polymer materials. Drawing on global policy text data on advanced materials, this study analyzes the development strategies of the United States, Japan, South Korea, the European Union, and China in the field of advanced materials. Finally, in response to the current situation and challenges facing China’s advanced materials sector, the study proposes suggestions to ensure the security of China’s advanced materials industry and supply chain:1) Strengthen policy guidance to gather advantageous resources for key breakthroughs;2) Promote new technologies to empower innovation in advanced materials;3) Facilitate the output of convertible scientific and technological achievements;4) Improve the construction of the international standard system for advanced materials.
